About Us

The Device and Arrhythmia Society of Tanzania (DAST) is an organization dedicated to advancing the field of cardiac electrophysiology and the management of cardiac arrhythmias within Tanzania. Founded with the mission of improving healthcare outcomes related to heart rhythm disorders, DAST focuses on several key objectives:


Education and Training

DAST aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias. This includes organizing workshops, seminars, and training programs to disseminate the latest advancements in electrophysiology and device therapies.


Research and Innovation

The society promotes research initiatives aimed at better understanding the epidemiology of arrhythmias in Tanzania, as well as exploring innovative approaches to their management. By fostering a culture of research, DAST seeks to contribute to global knowledge while addressing local healthcare challenges.

Advocacy and Awareness

DAST advocates for improved access to diagnostic tools, medications, and device therapies essential for the effective management of arrhythmia. Additionally, the society works to raise public awareness about heart rhythm disorders, their symptoms, and the importance of timely medical intervention.

Collaboration and Networking

DAST fosters collaboration among healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers both within Tanzania and internationally. By leveraging partnerships, the society aims to strengthen the overall capacity for managing arrhythmias and improving cardiovascular health outcomes nationwide.

Clinical Practice Guidelines

DAST collaborates with national and international experts to develop evidence-based clZnical practice guidelines tailored to the Tanzanian context. These guidelines serve as a framework for healthcare providers in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients with arrhythmia and related conditions.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

The goal of DAR-TANZANIA is to improve the knowledge and practice among
medical professionals dealing with cardiac arrhythmia patients and the welfare of

persons living with rhythm disorder in Tanzania.

To these ends, the objectives of DAR-TANZANIA are: -

  • To promote medical and other scientific research pertaining heart rhythm disorders.
  • To promote a free knowledge exchange with respect of heart rhythm diseases.
  • To develop the appropriate models of health care and appropriate interventions for people with heart rhythm diseases.
  • To monitor heart rhythm diseases and the risk factors in order to collect data on the effects of prevention, treatment and care that are essential for priority
  • To educate to the general public the prevention and early recognition of heart rhythm Symptoms
  • To promote the affordable quality health care for people with heart rhythm diseases.
  • To develop educational programs for persons with heart rhythm diseases to understand their disease.
  • To provide organizational means for cardiac rhythm specialists to come together as a professional body and to project its outlook and image in the interests of the society.
  • To promote interest of cardiac rhythm specialists in different parts of the country and to foster friendship, professional communication and understanding amongst them.
  • To encourage and provide opportunities for junior medical doctors to identify cardiac rhythm disorders of the patients they serve and utilize their skills and training in solving or alleviating such burden of cardiac rhythm complications.
  • To maintain and improve the standard of professional competence and conduct of all members of the cardiac rhythm specialists.
  • To foster solidarity with other associations and institutions within and outside Tanzania in advancing the society objectives without changing its status.
  • To establish an effective information center for purpose of enhancing the standard of professional expertise.
  • To print, publish and publicize the activities of the society.
  • To advocate for policy changes in the health sector in favor of Community wellbeing and cardiac rhythm society.
