About Us

The Device and Arrhythmia Society of Tanzania (DAST) is an organization dedicated to advancing the field of cardiac electrophysiology and the management of cardiac arrhythmias within Tanzania. Founded with the mission of improving healthcare outcomes related to heart rhythm disorders.

Our Mission

  • To promote medical and other scientific research pertaining heart rhythm disorders.
  • To promote medical and other scientific research pertaining heart rhythm disorders.
  • To promote a free knowledge exchange with respect of heart rhythm diseases.
  • To develop the appropriate models of health care and appropriate interventions for people with heart rhythm diseases.
  • To monitor heart rhythm diseases and the risk factors to collect data on the effects of prevention, treatment, and care.
  • To educate the general public on the prevention and early recognition of heart rhythm symptoms.
  • To promote affordable quality health care for people with heart rhythm diseases.
  • To develop educational programs for persons with heart rhythm diseases to understand their disease.
  • To provide organizational means for cardiac rhythm specialists to come together as a professional body.
  • To promote the interest of cardiac rhythm specialists across the country and foster professional communication.
  • To encourage junior medical doctors to identify cardiac rhythm disorders and improve their skills in managing them.
  • To maintain and improve the standard of professional competence and conduct of cardiac rhythm specialists.
  • To foster solidarity with other associations and institutions within and outside Tanzania to advance the society's objectives.
  • To establish an effective information center for enhancing professional expertise.
  • To print, publish, and publicize the activities of the society.

    Education and Training

    DAR TANZANIA aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias. This includes organizing workshops, seminars, and training programs to disseminate the latest advancements in electrophysiology and device therapies.

    The society promotes research initiatives aimed at better understanding the epidemiology of arrhythmias in Tanzania, as well as exploring innovative approaches to their management. By fostering a culture of research, DAR Tanzania seeks to contribute to global knowledge while addressing local healthcare challenges.

    DAR TANZANIA advocates for improved access to diagnostic tools, medications, and device therapies essential for the effective management of arrhythmia.     DAR collaborates with national and international experts to develop evidence-based clinical practice guidelines tailored to the Tanzanian context. These guidelines serve as a framework for healthcare providers in the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of patients with arrhythmia and related conditions.
